About Mottainai Vintage bikes.

Greetings bike lovers, we at Mottainai Cycles have a funny little hole in the wall shop/shed in Fitzroy where we sell vintage bikes and service all kinds of bikes. We specialize in building custom bikes and restoring beautiful old bicycles. We are quite different to most bike shops you may have visited before, we consider ourselves to be very friendly and relaxed, definitely not a sales orientated venture but a place where we love to hang out and transform pre-90′s bikes. You are all welcome to pop in for a chat about bikes or bring in your bike for a service. For a fully restored bike our prices start at $350 and rise according to the actual bike (rarity etc) and components. We love our work and feel pretty fortunate to be able to recycle these beautiful objects and introduce them to new owners. Drop in at 41 Kerr Street Fitzroy most days from 11am till 6.30. Cheers

Please contact me before visiting on mob 0448 884 051  FITZROY Melbourne.

Cheers

Love it. Will be keeping a keen eye on this blog. Am a slow rider myself, massive bike fan and thinking of designing my own bikes in the future. Moving to the northside of Melbourne soon, too.

    Hello
Know anything about a 70′s or 80′s Roadstar 3000 single speed bicycle? Writing looks Korean but not sure. Excellent condition. headlight generator, rear drum brake, space-age looking horn. Bike has “3000″ stamped everywhere, on rear rack, kickstand, seat, light etc. Know anything about this brand of bike?

I have a ladies Malvern Star that I picked up from an op-shop for about $20 years ago but have never ridden. Would love to start but it’s in serious need of restoration. Brakes seem okay but it doesn’t ride very smoothly and needs to be beautified, it’s pretty rusty. What price ranges would I be looking at if I brought it to you guys?

    • Hi Jackie,
Well it’s a little difficult to say without looking at it as there are so many variables with restoration. But usually somewhere between $100 -300 it really depends on how many hours of labour and also on replacement parts. It’s best if you bring your bike in and we can chat about it and find a budget that suits what you want. Cheers Cam

Hi, do you guys have a fixed gear with a flip-flop hub for sale? With drop bars hopefully. Just arrived in Melbourne not too long ago and need a bike. What price range would I be looking at?
    Thanks!
